Remediation solutions for every environment

Health, Safety and Compliance

Lewis continually invests in health and safety improvements because the overall health and safety of our employees is vital to our success. Our Health and Safety Programs apply behavior-based techniques to help prevent incidents and accidents. Our goal is to identify and eliminate risk before it occurs, and we have integrated this concept into our business philosophy.

We strive to go beyond compliance to prevent accidents at our job sites by implementing best practices in health and safety management. We maintain numerous procedures which are constantly improving so that we may achieve our goal of zero recordable incidents or accidents each year.

Behavior-Based Training: Our staff has embraced a behavior-based philosophy to safely complete all field work. This work philosophy is evidenced by the repeat hiring of Lewis by many companies embracing behavior-based safety training systems. By adapting this philosophy, all Lewis personnel are vested in our strict safety processes and authorized to temporarily suspend field operations when safety concerns arise.

PA State Certified Safety Committee:
Lewis hosts a monthly PA State Certified Safety Committee in conjunction with environmental consultants. We meet with these firms to review behavior, discuss near loss report and preventative measures, and conduct safety analysis.

Field Services Evaluation and Hiring Procedures: Our preventative measures begin with the pre-screening of every prospective Lewis employee.  Extensive background checks are conducted, then followed through with random and annual drug and alcohol testing and annual physicals in accordance with the Corporate Health and Safety Program and requirements of our customers.

Field Services Training: All Lewis employees are highly trained in environmental services. The field personnel training includes but is not limited to:

  • 40 Hour HAZWOPR (Annual 8 hour refresher)
  • Behavior-Based Safety Training
  • API Safety Training
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • Incident Command System
  • Hazardous Material Recovery & Management
  • CPR
